Why I took a “real” job with Swan Bitcoin
I’m already busy playing basketball, still working hard to get better every day and spending time with a growing family. So why did I decide to take on this role with Swan with my limited extra time?

1. Bitcoin is that important
Inflation is high and money is continuing to lose value. Bitcoin is a solution for people who want to preserve their wealth. I believe it is extremely important for people to first, understand the current situation of the monetary system and then help them see how Bitcoin is a great asset if they’re looking for an alternative way to store wealth and hedge against inflation.
2. In a small way I can help contribute to pushing Bitcoin forward
I’m excited to see how I can help Bitcoin adoption, whether it’s through some basic education or starting the conversation by putting Bitcoin on people’s radar that wouldn’t usually come across it. I think having a unique background in sport, startups/venture capital and having lived in different countries will help in talking to different audiences.
3. It’s Swan Bitcoin!
Swan is a bitcoin-only platform and has the very best educational content. Swan’s mission is to create 10 million new bitcoiners. They also strongly encourage self custody. Swan employs some of the smartest people in Bitcoin and I feel fortunate to learn from them while also meeting a lot of other great bitcoiners and engaging in wide-ranging conversations. Bitcoin is a topic that has so many pieces to learn about, it seems like the rabbit holes are never-ending. My favourite thing to ask a bitcoiner is “what new thing are you learning about right now”. It’s great to be able to talk to so many curious people that want to learn.
4. The time is now
Bitcoin is 60-70% off its all-time high, with less than a year before the halving. Most people don’t know that bitcoin is the best performing asset of the year, up about 60% and has been the best performing asset 7 out of the last 10 years. A lot of people associate crypto with Bitcoin. It is important to understand that there are many qualities of Bitcoin that separate it from other Cryptos (decentralization, hash power/ energy supporting it, unstoppable).

There are only 21 million Bitcoin. 19.5m are currently in circulation with 1.5m to be released over the next 120 years
900 bitcoin a day are being released, that gets cut in half to 450 a day April 2024 - called the “halving”
This ‘halving’ happens every 4 years
There are 100,000,000 satoshi’s in 1 bitcoin. You can buy $1 of bitcoin
Bitcoin is a global asset- anyone in the world can use bitcoin
Countries with higher inflation have higher adoption rates of bitcoin
Property prices are going down when priced in bitcoin
